Vivien Jenette is a multidisciplinary artist who creates bold, retro-inspired pop art influenced by her academic background in African American Studies, English, and Library Science. She approaches her work as a form of storytelling that references pop culture, music, film, television, and advertising to explore complex emotions and the intersections of identity. Her work often centers on the interior lives of Black women. Through vivid color and striking imagery, she highlights rather than hides emotion. Her work asserts that strength does not negate tenderness: a Black woman can be strong and still cry.

Alongside her visual practice, Vivien engages in research-driven projects that explore Black history, culture, and storytelling. These projects reflect her commitment to uncovering and sharing narratives that expand understanding of Black experiences, blending scholarship and creativity in dynamic ways.
